Restoration of the Roodepoort Public Library

The Roodeport Public Library is located in the historic original offices of the Roodepoort-Maraisburg municipality. Built in 1906 on a prominent corner site, the Victorian building was used as municipal offices until 1936.  The building was declared a Provincial Heritage Site in 1985.  The restoration work for the City of Johannesburg looked at maintaining and adapting the building for contemporary library use.
