The Union Observatory was established in Johannesburg in 1903 as a weather station and astronomical observatory. The historic site, now home to the South African Radio Astronomical Observatory, is layered with culturally significant buildings.  The conservation management plan for the site looks at its strategic long term management and protection while allowing it to remain functionally relevant.
